Interesting, isn’t it? Assuming you’re intrigued, you can peruse more here.. For the past 15 years, Emily has been one of the top four girls’ names!

During my pregnancy, Alex and I would sit in the living room late at night and brainstorm names. We made lists for both boys and girls, and we loved Penelope, Sophie, and Beatrice (both from Much Ado About Nothing). We also loved Penny and Bea as nicknames.

It’s funny Sometimes you feel like you’re coming up with a name that’s not super-popular, and you’re happy you were original – like when I was pregnant with Toby, Alex, and I both loved the name Sebastian, but then many other parents also liked it. How come? What’s the story? TV? Feature films? Nothing? We are fascinated by the collective unconscious.

Which baby names are your favourites? What are the names of your children? Does it matter if their names are popular?
